I wonder will we be extra extra diligent now in searching all those troop planes that land at Shannon. I hope not despite the calls to stop all lands by troops. There was a time when every students ambition was America for the summer. Now you cannot give away the summer visas for the US. Now every second kid seems to be going to Australia for a year out. Less FEAR I suppose. Very sad. The USA is no place for any foreigner anymore. The DHS are gestapo, There are new laws passed every few months which green card holders are not aware of but non-compliance with these ridiculous laws render you "deportable". Did you know that if you not advise the dhs of any change of address you are in violation of law and deportable? Come home people! My daughter's fiance works with a guy who went to Australia for his vacation this summer. He said he almost didn't want to come back to the U.S. He said he felt safer there. He wasn't afraid to walk down the city streets or to visit sites for fear of something awful happening. Sad, sad commentary for the U.S. when our citizens don't want to come back, and find another country feeling safer than home. Next to cleaning toilets about the worst job in every way that anyone had was security. They were just about dumb enough to stand around all the time in badly fitting uniforms trying to look important. Any grade got you into security as intelligence was positively anti-security. They worked unsocial hours for less wages. I should add bouncers/doormen here as part of security. Along came 9/11 and these cretins were elevated higher that police, doctors, firemen, etc in their minds. Remember who we're dealing with. Previously we ignored them totally and now they got to search you intimately. They never had much reason to begin with, so what do you expect when they suddenly have IMPORTANT power... So this day before Christmas, after plane loads of Irish mothers over with their overvalued Euros, again, to buy up New York are passing through customs there is this fit-looking Irish git. With his charming lilt and cheery good looks, this young man was everything the overweight sweating jobs-worth wasn't. Like a lamb to the slaughter this trusting Irish athlete answered all the questions totally honestly. Big mistake. Answering totally truthfully that he was a professional athlete on "an OPT visa, which is a visa after you graduate that allows you get a full-time job. I only got a part-time job so it didn't fill the criteria," done it for him. Burger-belly wasn't getting any at home so m... righty I agree, had friend from Europe visit and they were harrassed coming and going from USA.Yet Bush wants to let Mexican truckers travel freely throughout USA without passports and safety regulations on their trucks. Makes no common sense to me; except money. |
