Southern African leaders say they have been greatly inspired by the way in which Robert Mugabe has reinvented the concept of an election. "It's brilliant," said one head of state. "You can lose at the polls and still retain complete control. It really gives us hope for the future when our people get wise to this sweet little racket we've been running."

"The AU is about action for example, just last month we decided to install a suggestion box inside Harare's central prison where MDC members can rate the torture they are receiving and suggest alternative methods."

Asked if the AU has a plan to alleviate Africa's crippling poverty, a spokeperson said that this was at the top of the agenda and that a plan was in place.

"Europe and America must give us money," he said. "In unmarked dollar bills. In Samsonite luggage. They can just leave it at reception and we'll make sure the needy get it."

I'm a little confused here. You are mixing real news with satire on this clip. Hayibo.com is pure satire.

hi michellezm
its all starical, because how else to portray the extent to which regular african people can not be left in the lurch like this indefinitely, we all have very selective compassion. where is the real news? people are tired of hearing about war, rape, hunger & yet it isn't getting any better. satire & making links between unrelated aspects of an issue is a way i found to keep the attention on the very terrible situation. i see that it may be confusing, so i write irony for all to see. the real news tells us we are powerless & should just give up. i cant. thanx for asking .chara

I understand the intent now. Thanks for the response. I am horrified by what is happening in our neighbouring country Zimbabwe. (I am a South African), We are seeing a massive influx of illegal immigrants and the spread of cholera within our borders from that poor beleaguered country. Hundreds of children are now making their way alone into South Africa, having risked lions and crocodiles. Film footage smuggled out of Zimbabwe prisons show starving prisoners. And domestic animals, cats and dogs, are being slaughtered for food. The animal shelters have run out of food and the means to euthenase(sic) pets. It's a tragedy of epic proportions.
