balthazarus says: "When it comes to knowledge, you can never have too much of a good thing." i love to share my knowledge, in fact i have to remind myself that not everyone wants to know...whatever i'd like to share. the only incentive i've ever needed is someone who wants to learn. am i that unusual? think of gossip--a kind of sharing of knowledge. do people need incentives? not hardly. i really think it's harder to stop people from sharing than motivate them to do so, at least when it comes to know-how and info. I have to agree with iquanyin I agree too. History shows without doubt an 'incentive' almost as deep as instinct to pour knowledge gratuitously into the emerging human future. On the other hand, there are certain kinds of very important knowledge which do seem to develop best under the influence of external incentives - from recognition and honours to material rewards. We have to restrain ourselves in some kind of a structure. Otherwise good, bright, productive ideas will drown in a flood of our outbursts. Incentives, recognitions or rewards can be so faraway. As with Vivaldi music... I like the idea of sharing. When you start restraining yourself you are putting limits on yourself and others. And how do you decide what you should or should not share. Put out what you know and let others decide what they want to learn from it. |
