taksmaster says: "It's not a war on drugs. It's a war on personal freedom." -Bill Hicks Say no to the "war on drugs". It's clearly not working. Peace.................... Indeed.. they've been toying with the idea in Canada for years... Wow, we need to live in ROME , Italy LOL Well that settles it... I'm moving to ROME! what get me angry is the constant use of the word 'drugs' and the phrase 'war on drugs' when they mean heroin - say "heroin" when they mean cannabis - say "cannabis" when they mean crack-cocaine - say "crack-cocaine" there is a HUGH difference between these [source Brighton Drug Advisory Clinic] 1. few heroin addicts die from taking the drug 2. cannabis is less harmful than tobacco 3. crack-cocaine is (possibly) the most dangerous 'street drug' - mostly because of the types of people that deal with it SO it could be said that DRUGs are not the real problem - but the people that deal in the drugs are. ANY illegal activity brings with it large risks and large financial rewards. This is why... You left out the addictive properties and how that can ruin people financially, socially, etc... (in the case of Heroine, Crack, etc.. even in pot if abused to a degree... I've know people who "can't function" without pot...) Cat, the same case can be made with alcohol and tobacco. I've known many people who can't function without either or both of these substances. One of the biggest issues lies in what Steve has already stated, in which they group all drugs into one category--'drugs'. Each drug falls into a different area of the spectrum in regards to negative social implications. But, this raises the question: "Where do we draw the line?" |
