Deepti says: "Shalom Dichter, director, Association for Civil Rights in Israel, said: "Israel is considered, rightly, a country of slaves, for the government follows a discriminating policy regarding foreign workers." It seems that the actual meaning of words is no longer of much significance. Slaves, indeed. I think actual slaves would object to this diminished definition. I would have to agree with Godfrey on this one. To refer to these people as slaves seems a bit much. Unless i'm missing something, these people seem to enter Israel voluntarily and can leave whenever they like. It's been a long time, Goldstein. Glory be. I'm marking my calendar. Well, we've established that they're not slaves, but these policies sure don't sound very humane to me. It's illegal for foreign workers to have children? Give me a break. What's going on with the confiscating of foreign workers' passports? |
