Other generals were confirmed with reservation so just because you voted and indicated someone fit the requirements to hold the job doesn't mean you believe he walks on water.

Just because Reid doesn't accept Patraeus's assessment of the situation in Iraq doesn't mean he is accusing him of intentionally misleading, which would be a lie. Many military leaders have been convinced of their correctness even though it did not turn out to be the case.
