The generals that Reid wants Bush to listen to are Generals Abigail and Casey and here's what they had to say:

As both our top commanders in the region -- Generals Abigail and Casey-- have testified, Iraq is experiencing a violent civil war. Interjecting more U.S. military forces will not end the civil war, only a comprehensive political settlement by the Iraqi government will.
Nancy Pelosi was referring to all the Generals preceeding Petreus and here is what she had to say:

PELOSI: When you change the mission, then you can redeploy the troops, take them out of the combat zone. Then you have to do with what the generals are proposing. You cannot do this militarily.[/...

And then this is the quote and context regarding the last link in your post:

He also said that General Petraeus is going to come to the Hill and make it clear to you that there is progress going on in Iraq, that the so-called surge is working. Will you believe him when he says that?

REID: No, I don't believe him, because it's not happening. All you have to do is look at the facts.

The factors are this has been going on for three months. American deaths are at the highest they've been in two years. We have -- it's like a balloon.

Things have quieted down a little in Baghdad, but just a little bit. They've even moved up in the Kurdish area n...

You are such a tool. Answer me this mister apologist, why did Reid vote for a man who stated he was behind the surge Reid opposes and who Reid believes is a bald faced liar? Where is the integrity in that? (not that I expect you or Reid know what that word means)

I'm just being accurate which is what you should try to be instead of trying to take enough snippets out of anybody's words to try and prove your stance. Pathetic.

How am I not being honest. Petraeus said he supported the surge. The senate (you know, that place where Reid works) voted unanimously to confirm him. Reid says he supports Petraeus, but he votes to try and end the surge which he knew Petraeus supports. Reid says we must listen to the generals, but refuses to listen to the most important general of all, the one he voted to put in charge. Reid voted for the man, but thinks he is a liar. Is any of that not accurate? You are just upset about the facts and are trying to justify Reid's hypocrisy.

What a joke. Totally dishonest to take three word snippets out of context and paste them together to portray or imply something that was never said.

Why don't you just post the actual words and let people decide without your bias.

After you do something or let someone else do something then you evaluate it and you don't have to limit your evaluation on the words of one man. Why don't you agree with General Patreus that this war cannot be won solely militarily and if we don't do, or can't do, the other things then technically this war is lost.

Even Secretary of Defense Gates said that our presence in Iraq is not an open-ended commitment which means we are leaving at some point, success or ...

I think n2 would agree with that (correct me if I am wrong), and so do I. I also don't beleive anyone (of importance) has ever said this war will be won with just the military. The military is a component.

Patreaus didn't say "This war can't be won with military involvement"

Reid said he wouldn't believe Petraeus because he doesn't believe what Petraeus said to be true. So he either thinks the man he voted to be in charge of the war is incompetent or a bald faced liar. Take your pick, none of your kicking, screaming, or name calling will change that.

And the military alone can't win this war, but without the military presence it will surely fail. And I believe Petraeus would agree with that statement (which is a long way from saying the war is lost).

Hilarous, you make it sound like the Democrats were allowed to conduct a talent search, providing Bush their selection to be who Bush would put forward for confirmation. Other generals were confirmed with reservation so just because you voted and indicated someone fit the requirements to hold the job doesn't mean you believe he walks on water.

Furthermore, I don't accept your choice of options. Just because Reid doesn't accept Patraeus's assessment of the situation in Iraq doesn't mean he is accusing him of intentionally misleading, which would be a lie. Many military leaders have been convinced of their correctness even though it did not turn out to be the case.

I know your trying to pain...
