These great lectures have been a part of my Christmas since the late 60's. Bishop will wow his audience with some mind-boggling facts. For example, the fingernail-sized silicon chip at the heart of your desktop has 400m components, each a hundred times smaller than a bacterium.gee whizz. But I remember the lectures a few years ago when the subject was robotics. The manikin robot used in the demonstration stumbled on the steps. I feel there may also be some overweening arrogance shown on the last programme in this series when Artificial Intelligence is discussed. |
