Furthermore, the age of consent in Alaska is 18, and the marriagable age is 18 (16 with parental consent), so Palin's daughter is within legal bounds, both for sex and for marriage. They have an extremely complex system for determining the degree of sexual assault based on the age difference between the parties involved, or whether the older person is in a position of authority. The press salivates over who's going to give them the better story. They have to have something to report  But mainstream press certainly salivates heavily biased in one direction. Recent examples - lack of Edwards reporting when they had the story, same with rev. Wright, although they certainly stuck their teeth into Palin's daughter etc. immediately after the announcement. Kind of like Russian troops in Georgia... yes, they were provoked, but man - where they ready for serious action in no time... You're kidding, right? Rev Wright was the top story ad nauseum. It was, you're right - but NOT when it could've been. I strongly feel that if the story with him came out when it was originally known (i.e. way before most of the Primary cycle) - Hillary would be the nominee, not Obama. They sat on the story until it was impossible to do so any longer, but when it finally broke big time - it was too late and the damage to him due to that story, at least for the primary season, was non-essential. Same with Edwards, they had the story months and months ago. |
