masbury says: For the vetting is just now beginning. McCain offered her a job he shouldn't have offered, and she'll be the one hurt by it. Monte, this is not how the Alaskan people view her. She has an 80% approval rating which is unheard of in this state. The newspapers in Alaska are extremely liberal and very biased. As I said in some earlier clips the Republican party leadership hate her becaue she has gone after and succeeded in bringing ethich charges against them. In fact the leader of the Republican got slapped with a 10k ethich fine becaue of her. She was wrong to take the offer. She just made her 17 year old daughter the most famous pregnant teen in the world. Shame on her. She was wrong to take the offer. She just made her 17 year old daughter the most famous pregnant teen in the world. Shame on her.NO, she would only be that if she had an abortion and tried to cover it up. Being a young unwed mother is a challenge but not impossible. She will marry the father and they will both live and learn. We live in a new world, Smoke. The 24 hour news cycle, the intertubes. Sooner or later, the world would have found out, and shame on her for putting her daughter in that situation. And two teenagers getting married because they get pregnant is not the beginning of a happy story for anyone. Hey, maybe they'll "make it." But the odds are stacked horribly against them. I have to agree with dulios on that one. Marriage is not a panacea, especially for teenage pregnancy. Oh great, the kid will have the baby, she and the father will marry and everyone will live happily ever after..that's what all the 17 year old mothers' will tell you..those who were not ready for the responsibility of a budgie, let alone a baby, and the fathers and mothers who interrupted their educations to raise this child so society would accept them..oh for heaven's sake, what is wrong with people, and in this day and age, why the hell can't people practice birth control? Especially a supposedly intelligent family like this Palin one, although, this is NONE of our or my business..but as a situation that happens all too frequently in so many families, I comment. Who's attacking the daughter. That's crap. We're attacking the ridiculousness of republican religious doctrine that pushes non-effective abstinence sex education on our children. It doesn't work for our nation and it didn't work for the Palins'. We are also attacking McCain and Palin's decision to try and hide this from the public instead of just admitting it up front. It shows a chronic lack of judgment on McCain's behalf. He knew about this and had the opportunity to control the message. But he failed allowing the public to run with the story. What the hell's he going to do in an international crisis. Drink a glass of warm milk and take a nap? Pathetic. I agree with BobbyRutan. McCain's pandering for quick votes has overshadowed his ability to run a credible campaign against Obama. Imagine how he will handle any challenge thrown at him as president. This man is a waste of time and space for the Republican party's desperate attempt to continue Bush's ruinous policies of placing the welfare of Big Corporations ahead of the everyday citizen. I also agree with the previous two comments. It would be quite another thing if the Republicans didn't so zealously support abstinence only, along with increasingly leaning toward considering contraception for women to be a form of abortion (leading to banning it altogether). On the one hand, it seems downright hypocritical, but on the other I can see the Republican spinmeisters turning this into a "family support" issue. Furthermore, the age of consent in Alaska is 18, and the marriagable age is 18 (16 with parental consent), so Palin's daughter is within legal bounds, both for sex and for marriage. Would be nice to see Gizbert bet on his prediction... donate his losses to Young Mothers of America, if such exist or start it up if it doesn't. It's funny to see the left foam at the 'wrong' choice McCain made for whatever ridiculous reasons they think he did. The same man who's virtually tied with messiah in polls, even though the messiah has the press in his hip pocket, tried to outdo the Olympic ceremonies with his speech setup etc. and STILL he can't break away with anything meaningful and yet the man running along him isn't smart enough to pick a VP. Just how s... are you people? You should be thrilled if he really 'screwed up' as you indicate... it means your guy can finally rise ... RS, it's funny that you refer to Obama as a "messiah" when it's people like Bush and Palin who claime to be the ones chosen by god to lead. Will never happen...this belongs in the category of clips that begin with...IMPEACH BUSH. The left is terrified of Gov Palin because she is Ronald Reagan in a skirt. She will deliver a speech tonight that will make the Messiah's campaign toast. Go smoke one you Socialist losers..... Furthermore, the age of consent in Alaska is 18, and the marriagable age is 18 (16 with parental consent), so Palin's daughter is within legal bounds, both for sex and for marriage. So how does that consent thing work, with the daughter being only 17 and already 5 months along? jorjor - it's you, yours and the media who treat him like such. I didn't invent the title - you guys did. As for Bush & Palin - they don't say so and don't act so, nor do any of us, who support them in one or more ways would ever consider them such. That's why. You want some examples - listen to Olberman climax about Ms. messiah's speech? What about the other one, who 'got a tingle' when Obama spoke? And the fainters, stadium crowd, with the podium extended so the adoring fans could get close from all sides. I think Jesus himself must've been more modest. And even though I completely agree with sparlingphoto's sentiment - I don't think Reagan would ever wear a skirt or look as good in one I mistyped, wiccantexan. The age of consent in Alaska is 16, not 18, provided the older partner is not in a position of authority. They have an extremely complex system for determining the degree of sexual assault based on the age difference between the parties involved, or whether the older person is in a position of authority. Record Sage, I have never considered Obama in the least messianic (I am neither Christian nor Jewish and, therefor non-messianic in my beliefs), nor does anyone I am personally acquainted with. I don't know who you think "mine" are, but my parents are dead, my wife is dead and my nearest relatives are Canadian. I agree that some people in the news business are l... If you haven't seen the press salivating over Obama, sometimes totally in the open, people fainting at his speeches etc. - you're living in the alternate universe. As much as I wish I coined the term 'messiah' that so many have stated - that's not the case, I'm just in agreement with those making the allegation. I don't know you, but no question that you're a left-wing guy and that's what I meant by 'yours'. Yeah, I've seen all sorts of Obama fawning today; suppression of polls showing McCain's lead, Palin's popularity, Obama's recent gaffes concerning religion and lipstick.... Please. The press salivates over who's going to give them the better story. They have to have something to report You're kidding, right? Rev Wright was the top story ad nauseum. It was, you're right - but NOT when it could've been. I strongly feel that if the story with him came out when it was originally known (i.e. way before most of the Primary cycle) - Hillary would be the nominee, not Obama. They sat on the story until it was impossible to do so any longer, but when it finally broke big time - it was too late and the damage to him due to that story, at least for the primary season, was non-essential. Same with Edwards, they had the story months and months ago. |
