bookchick49 says: There isn't anything I can or want to clip other than what you see above. In order to view the photos and their details, you have to visit the site. In reviewing this website, to visit it is the only way to get a true sense of the life after Chernobyl. Although, highly clipworthy (IMHO), it deserves direct traffic. Credit given where credit is due. This website is NOT enjoyable nor is it highly graphic. But can be a bit depressing. One has to wonder why, why, why! There is some information at the site that basically states this area is and will be radioactive for hundreds of years yet. Place your mouse over the pictures to force a description of each photo. There are "back" and "next" buttons. Difficult to see due to the dark background of the website, but they are there. I added the tag "global warming" for the reasons you'll read on the last page of this website. Thanks for this clip. I am always saddened by the Chernobyl tragedy. Depressing as hell... Just after the Chernobyl incident, the Turkish scientists said that most of the tea leaves that were raised in Black Sea shores had radiation and it was dangerous to drink tea until further laboratory test results obtained. Then, a minister of the government cabinet of those years, appeared in front of the press, drinked a cup of tea and said "You see, there's no danger, I drink it confidently!" In the following years, many people died of cancer in the Black Sea region. Does anyone know the email address for the leader in Iran? @bookchick49 - the little despot is looking for nuclear weapons specifically so he can achieve such results. @invictus, was the minister from your country or some Ukrainian jerk? He was a Turkish jerk RecordSage. His name was Cahit Aral, the Minister of Industry and Commerce in the second half of 1980's. Despite the reports of TAEK (Turkish Atomic Energy Association) that tea from Black Sea region contained up to 89,000 becquerels per kilogram, he denied the facts and claimed that all those reports were part of a "conspiracy" to undermine Turkish economy. He even made jokes, like "A little bit of radiation don't harm anyone". What a sense of humor. Sorry to hear that... it's bad enough they were inept to the point of letting the accident happen... and infecting a bunch of their own people... obviously it went past their own and into other countries. I always wondered (still do) how people like that (that minister) live with themselves? I mean the guy should've known the truth - what motivates someone to be so careless with well being of others? |
