While I hate how much gas prices have risen, and I hate to see how much money the oil companies are making, I have to agree that it's not necessarily fair to impose a windfall tax on them.

Their margins aren't high, they just sell a product that has the most global demand by far. And if there were an additional tax, our government would just throw it away on ridiculous programs that don't have any impact, so it would just be a waste.

I say let's have the government take in less in taxes and significantly cut it's spending. They obviously are not good at managing budgets.
