If the contest is perceived by the voters as a contest between a wealth redistributor and a wealth creator, then it could be a long night come Nov. 4. This is still a center-right country, gang. Note this Gallup poll from June:

When given a choice about how government should address the numerous economic difficulties facing today's consumer, Americans overwhelmingly—by 84% to 13%—prefer that the government focus on improving overall economic conditions and the jobs situation in the United States as opposed to taking steps to distribute wealth more evenly among Americans.

My reaction "after last night's debate," was quite different.

I think the Republicans are giving the SuperRich individuals and corporations too many tax breaks and unfairly are not giving tax breaks to the Middle Class and the poor.

Exxon, with it's billions of dollars of subsidies and tax breaks is one good example.

The socialist style bailout of Wall St. is another.

I was rather disgusted at McCain, during that debate, when he opposed one of the suggestions of Obama that we have a 'bailout,' plan for the Middle Classes --- a plan to help Main St., and not just Wall St.

McCain went into the typical Republican cliches about how we can afford the money, cut spending, let's not have gov. ...

Hey, Joe Biden is back with his pseudonym "citizenbfk".

Once again you've managed to reel off all the democrat talking points like an automaton, and mentioned "stats" without citing your sources. Yes, Joe, just cause you say it makes it true.

Point is, very few Americans are sucked into this socialist/Marxist thinking, as much as you fervently hope to bring this nation to a basket case socialist state, it ain't going to happen any time soon.

That's what this election boils down to. We see through your and Obama's blather and see a far left wing radical socialist running for President.

You will find that Americans are wise, and will reject the imposter. You will also find that your...

I disagree entirely with your point of view and your estimation of what 'American's think,' will soon be put to the test.

Here, BTW, is a link to the first announcement of $700-billion dollars in socialism to Wall St.

Here's a link about the incredible Exxon tax breaks -- more tax breaks for the SuperRich:
http://money.cnn.com/2008/04/01/news/companies/oil_hearing/index.htm

Recently, The Overwhelming Majority of voters were infuriated that after the taxpayers reached into their jeans and provided an $85 billion bailout, a group of top executives and salesmen saw fit to spend $443,000 of company money being wined, dined and ma...

(cont.) citizenbfk believes: Tax breaks better for the rich have to stop. (And Wall st. execs should pay for cleaning up their own mess -- and we should not let them walk away with all their profits from years of speculation and then pay them off when their gambles go wrong).

Most Americans are against our growing economic disparity and it's consequences: http://harvardmagazine.com/2008/07/p4-unequal-america.html

It's okay with me if the rich stay rich...but in mortgage laws, bankrupcy laws, tax laws they have now unfair advantages.

citizenbfk is against unfair advantages. (You can quote that as my second position).

The stats about the increased concentration of wealth come from a Forbes...

The only thing Obama can do is talk. He's not a leader. He will be unable to make the hard decisions. Where Carter just prowled the rose garden while out enemies made a monkey out of his, Obama will just give speeches. Kind of like an impotent William Jennings Bryant. All talk and..... nothing.
