masbury says: "Not one Iraqi soldier took part in the airdrop, and the operation was not coordinated with any Iraqi authority" Relative of Prime Minister killed. And? I mean why complain, it is not like they, you know, own their own country, right? We don't coordinate every mission with the Iraqis. This agreement is negotiated with the Iraqi government. I am sure it is bound to make some of them mad with all the sects in their government. But what I was referring to was the statement that no Iraqis were involved. Would it have made a difference in the outcome? None really, since any agreement with the current al-Maliki goverment is not worth its its weight in paper. Of course it would have made a difference. This is an area officially, contractually turned over to Iraqi sovereignty. The military's word wasn't worth the paper it was written on. Whoever gave the green light on this operation has said to the world: "Don't trust the USA. Once they're in your country, they go where they please, they do what you want, and there's bloody nothing you can do about it." Hence the term "occupation", and that is not a career choice. |
