Hey Chestnut,

One of the things I do for myself each week, is take myself away (not too far), it is not meant to be a BIG mission, it is meant to be utterly enjoyable. I take myself away into the most natural places I can find where I am least likely to encounter people. I have my camera and I look, listen, feel... I do my best to get as quiet as possible, so I can experience these places from a different space. The camera helps me to "perceive differently". I share this because for the past few months I have been drawn to "reflections through water". This is a link to one of my albums - they are not all reflections but if you view them as a slideshow (F11 for full screen F11 to return to n...

I'm so glad that so many of you enjoyed these pictures. I'm never really sure how the pictures I put here on clipmarks will be received but I'm happy to say that I usually get a good response. I also want you to know that your comments mean so much to me. They encourage me to find the best pictures I can find to clip for you.

Hi celestialdancer, I love your creek and your pictures are great. You have some very good water reflections. I noticed how crystal clear the water is and I think that maybe that's why the mirror image is so good. I found those pictures very interesting and different from any I've seen in the states. It's curious to me because so much in those pictures looks like the Northern U.S. and then suddenly there's palm trees which is strictly far Southern U.S. Your use of lighting in your pictures is very good too. It brings out some beautiful colors that wouldn't show otherwise. Would you mind if I made some copies for myself?

Hi Chestnut,
Ummm I am actually in the process of turning my photography from amateur to professional. So am really not sure how to answer that? One part of me is delighted that you like them so much another part is totally unsure of how to answer that question???

The palms that you speak of are called Pandanus and they exist in the northern tropical parts of Australia. The creek in the photos is usually only accessible during the dry season but when the rains come, depending upon the amount, those rocks can't be seen and the creek is more like a raging river. This phenomenon and how the landscape changes still fascinates me!!!

Tell you what. If I want to see your pictures, I know where to find them now. I think that it does pose an interesting question and I'm not sure what the answer is either. As I collect pictures to put on here, I run across many that I'm kept from using. From my point of view, I usually think, "ok, if you want to keep a couple of thousand people from seeing your work, fine with me". However I also realize that keeping ownership of a picture can be hard too. For starters, you might want to try a layover with your name or your own logo on it.

Chestnut collecting people pictures and posting them with reference back to the url seems like this is doing the artist a favour. You are making people aware of their work. So clipping on clipmarks does not actually feel like an infringement of copyright. It is simply sharing things we appreciate "artistically speaking".

I think it becomes a problem when we do not reference back to the source and or print off their work etc without their known consent. Then again, Christine Kane has a wonderful insight about people "pirating" - she says something to the effect of - "the good comes back anyway."

Thanks for making me look at this in a deeper way too.
