You basically create a new Gmail inbox (email address) and forward all your emails from your original email address to your new email address. But you do not give out your new email address to anyone nor do you use it anywhere.

Then I separate and forward to the individual accounts automatically by using the filter. I seldom ever need go to the original address. It has worked well for years. Oh, I use one Gmail for all Google Alerts only. Have I been clear?
