teetotuma says: Naturally nutrient-rich foods such as lean beef ensure people receive more essential nutrients in fewer calories. Unfortunately, it’s clear the war on meat will continue because many people have a vested interest in the often-absurd and frequently outrageous claims made regarding its production and consumption. There is, however, no reason to avoid meat as a valuable element of one’s diet. As I am not a vegetarian, I am unable to realize my full potential. Einstein informed me of that via one of his quoted statements. Australians are researching the amount of methane gas sheep and cows give to us. Some argue that it is a factor in global warming. Meat producers haven't much to worry about as far as product consumption is concerned. You grow it, we'll eat it. Droughts, and more extreme weather generally, are the major problems facing meat producers in Australia. As the anti meat movement successfully takes people away from meat, there will still be enough for us, despite the shortages, due to the climate. Anyway, the vegetarians have been bashed by the press for generations because the meat producers encouraged it financially. Now it is the meat eaters turn to cop a bashing. Australians have kangaroos to fall back on when there are meat shortages. The meat is lean and packed with nutrition. And there are millions of them adding to the farmers woes. Avoiding meat is one thing. Being more particular about how one goes about getting it has more than one angle to it. http://www.grist.org/feature/2007/10/16/mississippi/ |
