Clipped this from an interesting article that uses General Electric as an example of a company that doesn't prioritize expertise or understanding of how things work or how they're made in or to manage their development.

From my personal experience with Clipmarks and Amplify i can definitely say that i wish i had greater knowledge of how things work technically and have often felt that i would help us make better decisions if i did. That said, i also think my lack of knowledge about how things work has allowed me to have an open mind about things, because i'm not burdened with the knowledge of how difficult things may be.

Clip has me thinking - I think some knowledge of how things work is helpful. It's hard to effectively lead unless you can teach. The knowledge will also aid in the understanding how much investment (time, money, and people) to do a job effectively allowing for improvements to both productivity and the work environment. Still, at the leadership level, I don't believe it is helpful to micro-manage.

1) Do we need leaders and elite at all?
2) Isn't it a rudiment of uncertain and cruel past?
3) Isn't it worth to try to be human beings in undivided society?
