Questions having to do with a candidates religious beliefs should not be asked unless the candidate is proclaiming that their religion is to be a major driving force in the way they plan to make decisions when in office. If they are proclaiming a religious agenda, only the fool would vote for them.

"....no religious test shall ever be required as a qualification to any office or public trust under the United States." -- Article VI, US Constitution.

Of course this doesn't keep religion out of the campaigns, just the oath of office.

It is nobody's place to determine if a church's beliefs are right or wrong. The trials and tribulations of its members determine their beliefs. An outsider cannot make an informed decision on the nature of their beliefs.

More pertinent questions should be:

Where do your loyalties reside?
How will you speak for the American people as a whole?
What methods will you use to assess the will of the people?
What is the most important part of the job of President of the United States?
Sort 5 things in the order of importance to the nation.
At what point does secrecy become vital in national security?
What is the true doctrine of the United States?
At what point does the government relinquish control over decisions to the people?
Who has the final say?
Who is more important, A Walmart greeter or the Walmart CEO?
Do people of other nations have the right to self-destructive freedom?
What is our role in the society of the planet?

I could go on for hours...

"This nation is based upon christian Ideals and Traditions.."
You mean back when we were stoning people and burning witches at the stake?

BTW, which constitutional law is based on a Christian ideal / tradition? I can't find one.

PS: Our founding fathers stated openly that the U.S. is in no way founded on the Christian religion (Treaty of Tripoli).

Our fathers wanted freedom of religion; and in case you haven't noticed the Christian religion does not allow other religions to exist, when given their way. That's not religious freedom, it's religious tyranny.

I didn't say it was right or predetermined I only stated what I see.
For a quick example
Christmas, Easter & Halloween (All Saints Day)

How many people in your life celebrate Christmas one way or the other?

What is censorship based on?

Where does a family in need turn for help?

What is the 'presence' inside funeral homes?

What are the names of the community hospitals in your area?

Of all the non-state run schools in your community what is the most common private school's doctrine?

Ahhh, I see said the blind man. You're not talking about the laws, but the traditions! Just like you said.

In which case you are definitely right. And I would have to agree. Even I, who am not Christian, celebrate Christmas!

Ha! And I like it !!

skwirlinator - I don't have a problem with most of the things you stated here. On a few of them, I was not sure what it was you were trying to say.

"This nation is based upon christian Ideals and Traditions..."

I think it would be better to make the statement that this nations culture has a strong tradition of being based on Christian ideals.

I agree 100% with AcesLucky on what the founding fathers intended for this country. They were acutely aware of the negative effects that religion has when embedded into governments. Creating a new type of government, one free from the influence of any religion, was one of the main objective of the founding fathers. It would have been...

Hey AcesLucky, are you there? I have a favor to ask of you.

Could you go to this link that sozoman's gives here: (http://www.proofthatgodexists.org) and run through the logic it gives for his proof of God. I just don't have the energy or will to shut him down right now. I think you might do a better job of doing it as well. I briefly went to this link and I saw several flaws in their thinking.

Yes and traditions

what the founding fathers intended for this country
Yes, I also agree

This culture has had a major effect on the government. (and it should not have)
Again, I agree

sorry skwirlinator - soz and I went round and round a while back on a clip when I got blocked just after he made a comment. He went to one of my clips and just started evangelizing big time about how only by the grace of God bla bla bla. He did not even make an attempt to address the clip's subject before jumping into his bible babble. The clip had nothing to do with God or religion. I warned him that I would block him from my clips if he did it again, the next time, he made a very short unimportant comment about the clip's subject then he jumped into his evangilizing bible bab...

I have been thinking about this for awhile now. These comments, including this one are in ReverendMarkCom 's comment stream. I have clipmarks set to receive comments on my clips and I'm sure many others do as well. While I personnal don't mind I want everyone to be aware that when they post a comment in someone else's clip they may have to deal with people in a battle about subjects not intended. While most people couldn't care less, It is OUR responsibility to be civil and polite in other people's clips. I must humbly apologize to ReverendMarkCom for hijacking his clip.
I seek only to open our minds to be polite.
