merrie says: What’s the only thing worse than Republicans on a spending spree? Democrats on a spending spree. Or maybe Republicans on a spending spree when they know the Democrats are going to take the heat. Either way, your representatives in Washington D.C. are a bunch of dirty filthy liars. Take the time today, right now, to write to your representatives and let them know how you feel about what they are doing. They still need our votes to get elected, so what you say really does matter to them. How can the people who are supposed to be running the country on our behalf do such a crappy job and lie about it when the facts are so obvious. In 2004 the Democrats took control of congress promising to fix the earmark problem. Instead of fixing it, they are doing their best to outdo the spending of the Republican controlled congress before them. This isn’t a partisan problem, it’s a problem all Americans need to be aware of, and take action to fix. Citizens Against Government Waste The Congressional Pig Book is CAGW's annual compilation of the pork-barrel projects in the federal budget. The 2008 Pig Book identified 11,610 projects at a cost of $17.2 billion in the 12 Appropriations Acts for fiscal 2008. *Complete Pork Database: Search all 11,610 projects by keyword, member, state, party or appropriations bill. http://www.cagw.org/site/PageServer?pagename=reports_pigbook2008 Must be in the air. The Liberals over here were handing out / promising millions every day in the lead up to the election. But we don't have corruption or maybe just a little and it isn't the politicians who are corrupt, it is their advisors. The Liberals AND the Conservatives have always done it. The question is how. The Dems (liberals?) get the blame for taxing, so it seems they are the big spenders. WRONG! The Republicans FAR outspend the Dems, but they do it by BORROWING! Borrowing is FAR more damaging in the long run because it comes with a much higher overall price tag. (And it causes our money to be worth less and less over time.) Take a look at this government chart on spending by party. I posted it to scribd if anyone wants to read it without having to download the pdf:Thanks for the links, alan. Scribd looks like a handy little tool. I've been using Foxit pdf reader, so I uninstalled Adobe. But Scribd (quick switch) looks much more useful and versatile. |
