Sometimes it depends how you do it or who does it. I've been to campaign rallies with great barbecue of chicken, hamburgers, hot dogs, roasted pig, mutton stew, mounds of salads, salsa, chili, chips, guacamole, soft drinks (paid bar for those who want it, with cheap prices), live music and everything....but if a candidate was to personally hand me an avocado it would be against the law. Cash donations equally crazy. People have a limit of $2,500 but somehow millionaires can give much more (often by going to special fundraising dinners that cost $50,000 a person) or some lobbyist "bundles," the cash, or ... |
