Hmmm....I haven't seen or heard of a single one except the first. I guess you have to be from Europe. I don't think movies are 'my thing'. I have only seen "Amalié", and I think it's quite good. (I actually clipped this to _remember_ the movies!) ...and yes, I'm from Europe, and the Guardian is British, so that's probably why there are so many European films on the list. I'm not very much into movies, either, but I like "low-budget" European films. I am surprised that "Come and See" got on this list. It is about a Russian boy wandering the countryside during the Nazi invasion. Of course he comes across many, many atrocities, and his reactions are captured in overwrought slow-motion sequences, and in the end we see the Russians make terrible revenge on a platoon of Germans that had wiped out a village (an act that we also see). To me, it is just a glorified exploitation-revenge flick. |
