Too long have Americans been silenced and intimidated. America is one of the very few democracies where the people are afraid of their government and not the way it should be, whereby the Government should be afraid of its people. whereby the Government should be afraid of its peopleShow us if you can, all these governments that are afraid of their people. We have become a nation of quivering chickens. We need to look around and see all of the nations that have harnessed government and where the people really do rule. France, Finland, Norway, Sweden, for starters. Europeans should've learned their lessons already of course. Finland- no signs they are afraid of anyone Norway- Same. Sweden is a mess, however. Once the neutral little giant, they are being forced to deal with ther world around them. You can't hide your head in the sand forever. Perhaps the phrase " afraid of their people" is a bit strong, however, in Germany the Chancellor A. Merkel and even Sarcozy in France are very much "afraid" or very, very nervous at least, not to raise hackles with the Unions and their opposition too much. Huge demonstrations with numbers that seem out of this world here in the US, for or against something, strikes that shut down a country, yes they are afraid of the will of their people. Democracy is not static, it is evolutionary, fluid in it's dynamic, or stagnant as the level of participation drops as it did in the US since the 70ties. Democratic notions from 17hundreds, the Greeks or other ideas along those lines, represent the level of... |
