Music I like; 99% of what I hear and like is the instruments. I'll put it different. I've always seen the voice as one more but very important instrument. The words hardy mattered. I'd not confess this unless there was someone saying something similar. Despite the above and my total inability to play any instrument, music has been about the most important external thing in my life. Thanks righthand, You say it well about the voice being one more but very important instrument. One can break the voice down to 2 parts: the pure musical tonality or however one should put it, and the actual meaning intellectually of the words. While I don't have a hearing problem in general, I do have a hearing problem in deciphering the tonal nuances of the human voice in ordinary conversation and in music. Understanding the words in movies, TV, radio, is almost no problem, because those mediums usually are intent on clearly pronouncing each word etc. So I love the music and I love the voice as a musical instrument, but very much of the time, I cannot understand the words of the song even... In the late 70's I attended a concert with Rory Gallagher. During the concert he spotted a young guy playing air guitar and he invited him on stage and played a song with him. At the end of the concert, people were so excited, that he had to keep on playing. After three hours I left and he was still playing... Thanks for your comment. I found it at 3 AM in the morning and decided to listen to the song. So sweet at the beginning and by the end the taste is still there but now I see what courage it takes to lift that cup ,to pull on that string, to play... |
