bignosemousie says: I wish I learned how to knit. These are pricey for me, but I would love to walk with my sweet little one wearing these. oh my- these are the cutest things ever! I think i might have to splurge and get these!! However, i'm not so sure my stubborn 3+ yr old would actually 'do this' - but in concept, this is the most adorable thing! Oh my!! That is the most adorable pair of mittens I've ever seen!! I can't knit but I can crochet, Mousie. I'll try making one and let you know how it turns out. Oh please do, Coco. I'm sure this isn't really a project to "learn" on, but I really might give knitting another go to make a pair of these. Dfiskey, maybe your newest one will grow up to use these with you. Start early! haha. My mum's a total whiz with the whole crochet thing. She made fingerless gloves for my cousin last year so she knows the basic pattern. I'll just show her this and see if she can help me get started. bignosemousie....it really is NOT hard to learn. Once you get the hang of it it's really relaxing and gives you a sense of accomplishment. I knitted an afghan many years ago. I was so proud because it was very long and my husband was excited because it would cover all of him...6'3". Well, I washed it not knowing that the yarn was wool and it shrunk to about 3 x 5. I can laugh about it now. Just get you a simple instruction book and you'll be making mittens before you know it for everyone!!! Thanks jatfla. You give me hope. I was so frustrated last time I tried to learn. It seems as if my mind isn't as sharp as it was before children. LOL. not sure what the guy is doing - knitting or crochet..He is wearing hours of effort, that's for sure. Nothings like it was before we had children!!!! :~) BNM, here's site with instruction: http://www.learntoknit.com/instructions_kn.php3 I can knit, but prefer to crochet. After a few days of frustration, I finally learned how to read directions to make things. I've been crochetting teddy bears since 1982! Have fun learning Maybe I should take up crochet. That is what my grandmother practiced. Thanks for the link Dorine. I appreciate it. There's a picture I saw the other day; not sure what the guy is doing - knitting or crochet...but this picture was taken on the subway in New York LOL! http://www.charchaa.com/this_is_new_yorkThat's me. Except I'm a girl and I knit on the subway in Berlin! All the time. You do meet some interesting people this way. No better way to strike up a conversation with a random stranger! |
