片桐さんが長男宙（そら）ちゃん（６つ）が通う同園に呼び掛けて企画した。<BR /><DIV>
園児たちは体長１０センチほどのひなを抱えると、「フワフワしてかわいい」「元気に育ってね」などと話しながら、約２０アールの田んぼに放鳥した。</DIV>

アイガモは、稲穂が出る９月末から１０月初旬まで放たれ、虫や草などを食べて、
体長３０‐４０センチに成長する。ふんが養分になり、稲の成長を促し、泳ぎ回って<BR /><DIV>
雑草を生えにくくしたり、稲の根をつつき刺激を与えたりするという。</DIV>

片桐さんは、今秋にも役割を終えたアイガモを園児に食べさせる予定。
「普段食べている肉は大切な命だということを教えたい」と話している。</B><BR /><DIV>
