It's a scourge in South Africa as well, Dorine. We have the phenomena of baby-rapes to contend with as well. The youngest rape victim still had her umbilical cord attached!!! The combination of alcohol, drugs and porn are lethal. Until the change of government in 1994 we were a porn free nation (under severe censorship) and rape was punishable by death. Subsequently we have been hit with a tidal wave of filth and it seems our nation can't handle it. We now have the highest rape and HIV statistics in the world. Particularly hard-hit are our Coloured people (not to be confused with Blacks - they are a separate 'ethnic' group).
I wish they would implement something like this in South Africa.

I find it hard to believe that porn & alcohol are responsible for child rape. Children are raped because there are sick fucks out there that get off on hurting children.

Hell Canada/The US is full of porn, yet the instances of child rape are relatively low. We also have lots of alcohol, and again... low child rape.

What these communities need are the same thing that our Native communities need: Education & Jobs. Many of these people drink/do drugs because they have little/no education, they have no jobs, they are bored and VERY depressed. The end up prostituting themselves and their children (as well as committing other crimes) for money for drugs and alcohol. (Also, at least in the...

I agree it is a tricky dicky move by the Government in an election year - but there is something in it with regard to dry communities. I support that. As for the porn bit, I believe in freedom of speech.
