Let’s get reacquainted with in-home food preparation, even if its only one day a week, and tell pro food to start taking some responsibility in its part to help keep us healthy. It's true- we are caught-up in the fast-food culture and obesity is fast becoming a problem for North Americans 2/3 of the U.S. population is overweight. We should go back to eating home-cooked meals to avoid all the cholesterol and cancer-causing junk we get from processed food. I worked for a short time in an "industrial" food setting at an assisted living facility. Most of the people living there had numerous health issues. Although we were not required to cook our meals considering any "special" nutrition needs, I tried to make meals as healthy as possible. I was incredibly frustrated with the inability to even order low fat anything! It seems the food suppliers do not carry anything even close to healthy, thereby limiting what any restaurant can offer with a reasonable budget. It's CRAZY to me that no one is forcing this issue. Those food companies must have stock in the drug companies for they support each other so well. We all should be reading ... |
