invictus says: Our new fellow clipper Torley wrote an excellent review of Clipmarks. Congrats Torley, and welcome to Clipmarks! Awesome! Thanks invictus for clipping and thanks torley for the incredible review! participatory mediaLOVE IT!!! another great torley quote about clipmarks (from torley.com) : From an ad on another site (I wish I could remember which one), I found out about Clipmarks, which is like Reader’s Digest for the early 21st century, but more hyperkinetic, even more digested, and dare I say even funnier? but I believe Clipmarks can be a useful educational tool:I strongly agree. This is what I've been thinking since the first day I began clipping. And like Derek, I also loved the term "participatory media". Guys, I know, some thought I was exaggerating when I first said it months ago but I repeat: Clipmarks is a real revolutionary on this Net. I agree Invictus, revolutionary is the apropriate term. thax for the clip and thkx to Torley for a great review. personally I loved this :"magnificent potpourri" .-) She mentions how easy it is to find and interact with the site owners, and I could not agree more. This is one of the best aspect of this site. She mentions how easy it is to find and interact with the site owners, and I could not agree more. This is one of the best aspect of this site.I really like this too. I think the users care so much, in part, because the owners are so present. Their success feels like our success, since the site is 100% user generated. Congrats on the nice review, CM Team, and a warm welcome to Torley. ...how easy it is to find and interact with the site owners, and I could not agree more. This is one of the best aspect of this site. Absolutely, and another unique and positive aspect of the boys at Big Clip is their restraint in wielding power in terms of any bias through favoritism or censorship or intimidation of those with whom they have significant disagreement in matters socio-political. This is the key factor in Clipmarks having become so diverse in opinion, and why it hasn't become either a DailyKos or FreeRepublic clone. I'm SOOOO enjoying being here thus far, and seeing this after waking up only reinforces that more! Thanx so much for the warm welcome, each and everyone. I just had to say it, I have all these enthusiastic feelings that bubble up — and *bang*! I suppose that's tantamount to Popping too. I'm really thrilled that the makers of Clipmarks are so involved in participating too, for me it's personal because Second Life (I work for Linden Lab) is powered by user-driven passion too. Which to me, is: the good, the pure, and the true. Thank you Turley (and to everyone who has said such nice things in this clip). I know i've said this before, but it really is your continued passion and excitement about clipmarks that fuels our work. I won't speak for the rest of the team, but this is sometimes exhausting for me (emotionally more than physically). As you can probably imagine, potential investors have recently sprouted up interested in investing. Thing is, they typically want to tell us how to do this better and surprisingly end up having the opposite effect on me than i'd expect (instead of being flattered by their interest i usually end up feeling down because of their objective criticism). Reason i'm bringing this ... Don't forget the member base here is as diverse as it can get. I love seeing comments on clips from the people of the world. ClipMarks is a major leap towards a type 1 civilization because it strips out all the filtered views of big media and propaganda. Since the web is so huge and diversified there will be clip content until the world ends. I liked what you wrote Torley and welcome to our community. The Clipping Community of Planet Earth. Educationally this has the potential to create a world common knowledge base. There have been wars over lack of common knowledge. Some things to ponder... ClipMarks, Google, 1 Laptop per Child, Feedback, tagging and communication OMG! Visionary... "Type 1 civ" gets me thinking of Michio Kaku's speeches. I'm a YUGE fan of his. Maybe it sounds a little *too* pragmatic to some (is that even possible?) to say that these are steps towards a better civilization, but I earnestly believe it to be true — or at least, becoming more true as we interact more like this. "The Clipping Community of Planet Earth" — it's official, I'm a clipper! I also like how things are largely brief here, because people get stressed over TOO MUCH STUFF and TOO MUCH TO READ (I know I do at work) and become flustered and can't remember what it is they all read, which degenerates into further hostilities. This is so anti-that, from what I've seen an... I've been emailing issues to the clipfathers all day and they are working on it. Be patient. I have no doubt we will see a response shortly. By the way, Invictus is from Turkey. You would be wise to heed his clips as they are often enlightening and observational. Ok, so is your head swelling up now Invictus? skwirlinator: goodie goodie gumdrops — and indeed I've been following Invictus' example. Invictus, your profile avatar here reminds me of "V for Victory"! (Haha, I LOVE how comments that would be "normal length" on other sites automatically get a "read more >>" here.) ...i usually end up feeling down because of their objective criticism). Man, don't ever let this happen, Eric, there is little that you can receive from someone of greater value than honest, objective criticism. you're right GD. it was poorly stated by me. more like, "i don't really know all that much about clipmarks but i've got all the answers about how to make it better" criticism. LOL Duly noted. Scratched "objective critcism" Penciled-in "boneheaded suggestions" Ok, so is your head swelling up now Invictus? Thanks Skwirl, it really is. Torley: Yes, you got it! People begin to call me "Vic" nowadays and I like it. I shall call you Vic then, too! There's prolly some solid parallel here having to do with you helping to free the world from generic info-delivery! VICTOLY!!! (As in, http://www.engrish.com/image/engrish/victoly.jpg ) but after reading Haraya's comment on another clip (can't remember which one it was) I decided to keep V's mysterious charism for some more time.I think I said that V will always be a ladies' man, Invictus. *rereads Skwirly's comment* He's also, apparently, a manly man's man. Yes Haraya, that was the comment and I loved it. There's prolly some solid parallel here having to do with you helping to free the world from generic info-delivery!Wow, that's what I call a real quest, Torley. I hope I can be "victolious". She mentions how easy it is to find and interact with the site owners,This is a large part of the appeal of Clipmarks for me, too. I've only been here a short time, but I've felt welcomed and really enjoy this place. I think you guys are doing a great job with it, and I love the diversity of the membership. My only regret is that I didn't find y'all sooner! My only regret is that I didn't find y'all sooner!Ditto! Well, good news is we're here now. |
