Any brain damage could become a genetic marker in us if we allow it to propogate. Brain Damage as implied by the word 'damage' is something that happens to a 'normal' brain. This occurs with dementia and alzheimers alot. I take care of my mother, who has dementia, and I pray every day this does not happen, though she is already suspect of other family members, and does not trust them. One forum for caregivers that I visit now and then has many examples of this happening, as well as forgetting people altogether. It is extremely hard on everyone involved. A curious find in the cases of dementia/alzheimer sufferers is metals absorbed into the brain in large amounts, and this has been linked to the cause. For instance, if you are a neanderthalian born with a monstruously huge forehead, are you damaged ? I knew Synesthesia as a phenomenon occurring in "normal" extatic experiences, the confusion of "not knowing if God is a taste, a sound or a light".
