My 98 year old grandmother passed away in her sleep this past Saturday, and I can tell you that each caregiver deserves a cultural award. My grandmother's life experience was excellent, yet it took lots of people working together, in the last 4 years, to make it happen. My mother led our caregiving team, and I hope that I can follow her example. Hang in there. Very sorry to hear about your grandmother, neochonetes, my condolences to you and your family. Bobby, thanks for all of these wonderful clips you do, they mean a lot to me, on a very personal level. With my mother, there are days that things seem to be improving, and then suddenly it is like it got three times worse! Now she's even refusing to see her doctor. It can be so erratic, like a rollercoaster! I've was essentially a sole caregiver for an extended duration, but thankfully not for one as difficult to manage with as an Alzheimer patient. It is an experience only one who has been there can fully understand. Perhaps if there were a way to synthesize a political movement from those who have walked in those shoes we could see positive changes in our health and care systems. |
