This is one of my favorite movies ever. Visually stunning to the point of awe-inspiring!

I liked it, but for some reason Howl's Moving Castle resonated with me even more. Maybe it's because I really liked the voice talent (Christian Bale, Billy Crystal, Lauren Bacall) or the cool walking castle.

I got suckered into watching this -- I thought I'd hate it, but it really was great.

One of my favorite animated features - like most works of Hayao Miyazaki...

I enjoyed it very much.

Faves in order:
1) Bloodlust - Vampire Hunter D (unbelievably awesome)
2) Fist of the North Star
3) Princess Mononoke
4) Spirited Away
5) Ghost in the Shell

I dodn't really like it. But my wife loved it to the point she bought the DVD.

The over-the-top fantasy visuals and striking composition are what drew me in, but it was the complex human subtext of the main characters that stuck with me. Sen's ability to maintain devotion to her goals in such extreme adversity coupled with her unwavering honesty in dealing with both her friends and foes...the fact that they got such admirable and adult characteristics out of her adolescent character is awesome.

On the surface, the film never takes itself seriously. Deeper down, I feel the narrative has a lot of through-provoking ideas about discovering and overcoming one's principles and limits (self-imposed and otherwise).

All this wrapped up in what is, after all, a mere kids's story. A delightful movie.

Well it took another month, but I finally got to watch it. I must say I loved it! Not to many 3 hour movie's that i can say that about. Lord of the rings is probably the only other.

Nice! Since clipping that I've been playing catch up with most of Miyazaki's other works. I still feel Spirited Away is his best...a masterpiece of visual storytelling.

Given the theme of today, I encourage someone to find some cool Princess Mononoke pics to clip.

I just watched Princess Mononoke last night. Loved that one too, but I agree, spirited away is better. Next on the list is castle in the sky, thinking about starting it tonight.
