It's actually easier to 'pre-screen' the link. This is a method I submitted to Ebay's fraud and Security Dept and they admitted it was a great way to 'be safe'.

ANY link you get can be spoofed and potentially dangerous. So how do you know if you can click it or not? Easy.
Whether it is an email, web page (or other) copy and paste the whole schabang into a new MS-Word document.
After pasting into the document, move your mouse cursor over the link ...and presto! The actual link shows up for you to see. (notice I didn't say to click on it)
All those phishing attempts are easily thwarted this way as you can plainly see the link usually goes to Nigeria or someplace in Russia.
