abailart says: The God of love, eh? At least they didn't list "bloggers" or "clippers". An illustrative clip for 4 thoughts: 1. 1 Cor 6:9 says nothing about "hate Christ," "reject Jesus Christ," "unbelievers," or "hell." Those words are added by the author to suit his own purposes. 2. Regarding the words reflective of homosexual conduct, they, in Greek, suggest the classical world's habit of an adult male keeping a young boy for his own sexual pleasure, and probably don't refer to modern-day situations. 3. What does "inherit the Kingdom of God" mean? Jesus constantly talks of the Kingdom of God as being here, now, and also coming. We simply can't tell what is intended here - but certainly hell is neither part of the text nor the context. 4. What we have here is a person who i... Effeminate? Isn't at least half of the population of this planet "effeminate"?? nothing like good old soul burning personally i dont care much about it cause i have no soul. hence nothing to burn. but i find it extremely rude towards other humans who happen to have a soul and happen not to embrace jesus. shame on you apuritansmind.com I am not religious, but I do realize we are more than the sum of all our parts. The same type person that realizes that when we die we just die and that is the just the end, is no different from the person that believes in heaven and hell where the good ones can live in the house of the lord forever. Why can't we belief be what is real and say we don't know to what we don't know? I guess fear helps fill the collection plate and keeps the flock in line. Further, I can't imagine Jesus talking like this in a public forum. The only times I read of him talking about condemnation are times when a) he directly warning religious people only (especially ones with a reputation for ultra-conservatism), and, b) there's a situation where those claiming to be religious are damaging or taking advantage of someone else. As with the use of the term "born again," he uses talk like this with religious insiders only, and does not presume to blast away at people who make no claims of following God. If Jesus were the example that most who call themselves Christians followed, I doubt that many would find them intolerant. As Ghandi said, "I like your Christ, but I do not like your Christians." Can't say you weren't warned. |
