Aribeth says: It doesn't matter if people do not understand evolution "Survival of the fittest" justifies "everyone for themselves" Evolution is limitlessly creative Evolution cannot explain traits such as homosexuality Creationism provides a coherent alternative to evolution Creationist myths: Evolution must be wrong because the Bible is inerrant Accepting evolution undermines morality Evolutionary theory leads to racism and genocide Religion and evolution are incompatible Half a wing is no use to anyone Evolutionary science is not predictive Evolution cannot be disproved so is not science Evolution is just so unlikely to produce complex life forms Evolution is an entirely random process Mutations can only destroy information, not create it Darwin is the ultimate authority on evolution The bacterial flagellum is irreducibly complex Yet more creationist misconceptions Evolution violates the second law of thermodynamics Perhaps the greatest and most important myth is that a misunderstanding of evolution, or even a simple failure to study the subject, has led to an ideological myth that 'evolution' is a purposeful straight line of development whereby at some level things progress to a 'higher' level of being. The confusion this causes in politics, religion, science teaching, psychological realism etc is immense. And related to this is the dreadful belief in 'the survival of the fittest'. which is not part, anyway, of Darwin's theory. The autonomous and reproducing fiction of evolution, sliced from its scientific usage, is a root of some awful human stuff. @abailart You put that very gently, with a great deal of mindfulness. You should be an ambassador! Whosoever said:"The lion is a relative of my grandson's putty tat: both are a member of the family Felidae" - that cannot be disproved. So zoology is not science. Grammy will tell dat dattling radionale in de kindergarten of her little darling! A horse is a horse of course of course! Now then let me see you make the horse fly. Now then let me see you make the horse fly.Pegasus (Greek: Πήγασος, Pégasos, 'strong') was a winged horse that was the son of Poseidon, in his role as horse-god, and the Gorgon Medusa. But then, you don't really expect evolution to explain the disappearance of unicorns either, do you? Ignorance is not a crime....willful ignorance is. Funny that those who are willfully ignorant about science are also willing to ignore facts in some other areas and believe, blindly what their authority figures shove down their throats. Because that is what this is all about, a call for to willful ignorance so that those who thrive on it can rule the masses with impunity. Explains the last 8 years nicely. Willful ignorance is not a crime either. It's head-in-the-sand escapism for angst. (It's angst that is the fundament of fundamentalism.) Whereas it's dupery, deception, stultification that's a crime or, at least, an offence against reason and morality. It can be when combined with absolute arrogance. 'escapism from angst is not a willed action. It doesn't matter if people do not understand evolution "Survival of the fittest" justifies "everyone for themselves" uuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuu survival of the fittest was used as the base argument for eugenics hmmmmmm well well well the same people who used eugenic were religious too awwww what a paradox! Thank you, abi; I was wrong. Escapism for angst (Flucht aus Angst) is not willful. But escapism from angst (Flucht vor der Angst) is or at least can be willful. Willful ignorance is an attempt to escape angst in an ostrich-like way. If a willfully ignorant person starts whistling in his dark, it's comprehensible. If this whistle evolves into a nasty blare, then we call it arrogance. Right, ratilfar? Thats one way to put it. A good way really. If the whistle is done on the other side of angst it won't disturb anyone this side of evolution. abi, evolved humans have a big heart to embosom and raise the chickenhearted. meancookie89, thanks for pointing out the difference between describing and explaining science on the one hand and normative ethics on the other hand and the metaphysics of religions on the third ( Willful ignorance is not a crime either. It's head-in-the-sand escapism for angst. (It's angst that is the fundament of fundamentalism.)That is the truth! Colin Patterson (one of the world’s foremost fossil experts who at the time was serving as senior paleontologist of the British Museum of Natural History in London and editor of the professional journal published by the museum) delivered a public address to his evolutionist colleagues at the American Museum of Natural History in New York City. In his speech, Dr. Patterson astonished those colleagues..... [i]One Thank God we have so many experts on angst at Clipmarks. There is not such thing as an "evolutionist". But thank you for playing. FYI: Why are dinosaurs cut off from evolution? It's a matter of escapism from angst: Having stuck their heads in the mud on Cretaceous's doomsday, diehards die hard till eschaton's Doomsday. This survival strategy of stick-in-the-muds is what we call Diehardism*, a special bibliocratic sector of which is erroneously called Creationism (correct: Concretism). _______________ * JED (Johanna's English Dictionary) |
