ljsdesign says: Read the whole article, it's a doozy! Think I'm gonna upchuck I've got history and science books on order, just in case. As Mark Twain put it, "never let schooling get in the way of your education". I’ll bet those ‘new’ history books won’t include these facts: Nixon suggested using a nuclear bomb on Vietnam http://www.highbeam.com/doc/1P2-6072401.html; Nixon threatened to cut off the head of South Vietnam’s president to end the war http://www.latimes.com/news/local/la-me-nixon-tapes24-2009jun24,0,817553.story ; Nixon remarked that an abortion might be necessary if a pregnancy involved an interracial couple http://www.latimes.com/news/local/la-me-nixon-tapes24-2009jun24,0,817553.story; General MacArthur, Nixon and Kissinger toyed with the idea of dropping atomic bombs on North Korea when Nixon was VP under Eisenhower http://books.google.com/books?id=OD_raa6VYo0C&pg=PA110&lpg=PA110&dq=n... @disenchanted I bet your spot on! I believe history books should be written in an objective view by Historians and not politicians. It should include the good , bad and the ugly so we may learn from those mistakes that we have made. At the present rate of devolution "Texan education" will soon become a noteworthy oxymoron. @ Socratoad I'll have to add that to my list of favorite oxymorons Side Note: I'll have to find the story again, but Texas is also having difficultly finding and instructing teachers on the new Bible Literacy courses that are now to be a part of the curriculum. No Joke. It does boggle the mind I think Texans would probably deep fry history books if they could. only the pages they didn't like Re-writing history by anyone should be akin to treason. That goes for both the liberals and conservatives. |
