interesting clip. i'm starting to think that we really shouldn't get mad at people for being jerks or give people great credit for being nice. seems like it's just a matter of being born with the right brain composition. I too find myself more and more fascinated by Brain research n the like. Very important implications for the future. Egoldstein, if we are the sum total of our brain synapses then we would be mere automatons, devoid of free will and none of us would be responsible for our actions. And if you take that reasoning to its logical conclusion without culpability there can be no consequences. Morally then we would be wrong to imprison or punish offenders because they are simply slaves to their brain pulses. No, free will is what separates us from animals who are instinctive. |
