An Irrelevant Filter? I gots to get me one a thoze- please apply this filter to stumbleUpon I've experienced something related to this. An example: I remember what happened in a story a co-worker tells me, but won't remember who it happened to, where it happened, other details of the story. I find my brain tagging those details as irrelevant. People are ALWAYS saying to me, "Don't you remember I told you about him, he did such-and such.." I remember the "such-and-such" and almost never the who. I am textbook female adult ADD. I think an awful lot of people are. The ability to hold information in the mind so that it is immediately accessible is known as working memory.Mine must have gotten laid...off I wonder how easy it is, is a brain decides something is irrelevant, can it remind us to write a note? Talk about 'selective memory' all y'all are right, and its really cool, and i definitely have selective memory, but I've mastered it and i can block out almost anything i want to except loud stuff- I can remember anything as long as it is NOT important I can remember anything as long as it is NOT importantMe too surfing through clipmarks I can manage the information better if I selectively read what catches my attention or really interests me; filtering the irrelevant(to me) material |
