I think most employers would be hard-pressed to find a policy from a company that doesn't cover abortion in some way, in at least some of their policies, which, by extention, results in a de facto subsidization. This is called the fungibility factor. For example, from 1982-1989, there was a chemical company called Morton-Thiokol (the two have since split); Thiokol made rocket motors which were used in, among others, the Subroc, the Pershing missile, the Peacekeeper missile, Poseidon missile, Minuteman missile, and the Trident I and Trident II missiles. This means that every time you bought a canister of Morton's Salt between 1982 and 1989, you ind... Very interesting. Now, when I pick up a box of Morton salt I'll see a mushroom cloud instead of the umbrella she carries. Another interesting point the pro-lifers don't grasp is the way in which they are exploited by both the politicians on the Right and the Religious Right proponents wanting to push their agenda of banning abortion because of their biblical interpretations of when "life" begins. IMO, if they wish to buy into the concept of "soul" and of a celestial intelligence bestowing this entity through magic into a clump of cells it doesn't affect me to an extent that troubles me at all. That is much different than passing laws that force everyone to adopt their religious views. For p... if men got pregnant, they would die in labour, they would not be able to take the pain! |
