Clip: "We feel naked when up against traffic because people don't see the bicycle as just another means of transport," said Madrid cyclist Ramon Linaza, wearing only a cycle helmet and shoes."

Sorry ... no pictures

There is a video though ....

Seriously though, the demo did have a point - it's bloody impossible to cycle in any European city nowadays, yet 'they' keep on saying that we should...

How can they have a story like this with no pictures?

Pictures woudl have been good. I would love to see ho wthe heck people ride nude on bikes. That has to be really painful - perhaps as painful as riding in the european traffic. I mean - with biking gear on, it is painful to ride.

Amaruca that is enough!
I posted that clip to lighten the tone here and it was me who made the remark about there being no pictures. People responded to that - no big deal.

My interest was to see the kind of people that would take a bike ride in the nude. I have access to whatever I want via the internet so why would I get a thrill out of someone riding a bike nude? I would have to guess they would remove any spiked pedals and the like.

Amaruca, I often feel patronised by some of the comments here made by men just as you do. I have been the victim of male violence and that makes me wary. I also strongly believe in equal rights for all, but when everything is taken as a personal attack on the female sex I draw the line.
I would also say that it really does defeat the object when you attack everyone who disagrees with you even though some of them agree with many of your views.
But the choice is yours .... don't let me stop you.

I like bikes. And, for what it's worth, I've ridden nude. For fun, not to make a point. Wheee!

Amaruca, I agree that remarks made here by some of the male clippers can be patronising (in the extreme in some cases) and it does erk me a little, but I can comment back .... if I can be bothered to.
I am also wary of some men, having been a victim of male violence. And it should go without saying that I believe in equality for all.
But when I see someone attacking others just for the hell of it, I draw the line.
I fail to see, however, how that makes me a 'fantasy female'.
It really isn't helpful to attack anyone here just because, for once, they disagree with something you say.
But of course, if you want to do that, that is your choice .... don't let me stop you....

Men patronising females on this board is a really serious problem. I have tried to introduce this board to two different (college educated, professional) females when I first started here- both scanned posts and said they wouldn't subject themselves to the 'patronizing, sexist a**h**es' resident here. Of course they were not talking about all of the men- but the few who are guilty ruin it for the rest. And ruin the chances of more good, intelligent women hanging out here.
The last online statistics say that internet use by women and men is now about 50/50. While I see 3 or 4 times as many men on this board as I do women. Doesn't anyone wonder why?
I would not do ANYTHING to encourage the (mis)behavior at all.

There can be many reasons why Clipmarks has a majority of male clippers. One of these may well be the attitude of some of the men here, but certainly not all.
I consider myself to be an intelligent woman and, as I said, it does get to me when certain clippers patronise us, but if I stop coming into Clipmarks it won't be because of that. After all, if I am intelligent enough to comment on a clip, I am intelligent enough to either counter the prejudiced arguments made or simply not to let them worry me.
No, if I stop coming into Clipmarks it will be because I am getting sick and tired of the constant bickering that occurs here.
I do not know who started it (I can guess though....

hmmm... I never specified which sex. I assumed both sexes were riding and again - for both, without proper attire it would be painful and could be dangerous.

Not sure what gives with the inferiority complex Amaruca - but I unless I have been too absent on clipmarks recently and something has lapsed in that spell - I really don't recall anyone putting down women.

Just before I leave for work...

I was actually interested in the clip in the first place because we are moving to Spain in a few weeks time and I'm trying to catch up on Spanish news - of all types.

When I found that clip, I thought it would lighten the tone here, not for any pornographic reasons (and I fail to see nudity as pornography anyway), but simply because it struck me as funny that people were riding bicycles in the nude, men as well as women. I thought they were making a good point about cyclists feeling naked in large cities and, like rmowery, I also wondered about the safety aspects of this particular exercise.

But in any case, being an intelligent, thinking, sociall...
