thisnamecantbetaken says: It angers me that people can abandon an animal as if it were a just another consumer item. If people can't or won't take proper care of their pets, they can at least make sure to give them to a shelter, so they can have a chance of getting re-homed. Times are hard for everyone. There's absolutely no need and no excuse, to make them unbearably hard for the poor animals too, by just dumping them on the streets. How cruel humans can be. I've never been able to understand how a person could feel enough for an animal to take it in and then turn around and just throw it away. It hits a nerve. This is so sad. You make a good point - What does it mean if our pets become "disposable" when they become "inconvenient". When you adopt a pet you are adopting a member of your family and accepting responsibility for its life - in good times and bad times. This is a good time to promote and support No-Kill Animal Shelters. http://www.nokillnetwork.org/spread-the-word.htm |
