Unfortunately, it can be disheartening sometimes to realize that a FAR disproportionate share of internet "posters" are of their mindset and this creates an illusion to them that their views are much more mainstream than they are. Also encouraging to remember the same thing,too.

Socratoad made an entirely reasonable point--economic growth isn't necessarily an end in and of itself. If companies selling guns and security services are the ones making up this economic growth that is not reassuring. If the boom in consumer goods is mostly driven by the consumption patterns of a minority high-income Iraqis that is not reassuring either. In fact, the article this came from suggests as much:
