nikmil, excellent clip! After reading the entire article, I agree with you 150%. Being a disabled veteran of the cold war era, exercise becomes a must as does mental exercise. Will look forward to your next clip.

She says : If you do turn out to be my match, all I will need is some of the stem cells of your blood to be transferred to my body. This still doesn't require surgery, only a little bit of your blood. These past few months of hardship have caused me to reach the end of my rope. I am unsure how much longer I have to live. But what I do know is that the one thing that can save my life is a matching donor. And with someone like you, I am unwilling to lose hope! I desperately need your help and kind support in finding my match.

'not green enough' will be rationed. The cross enforcement of anti-pollution laws and green technologies will bring the EPA to the party as an enforcement arm tailored to regulating all manner of pollution producers. Think of banning riding mowers as creating pollution and a sedentary lifestyle, thus running afoul of the 'Green AND Obesity Police.' Want to smoke a cigar with your goombahs at the local pizzeria? Fuggedaboudit! Pizza will, of course, be banned or regulated as a major cause of obesity. Those ovens that pump out CO2 by the cubic yard have got to go, too. And cigars? Not only do they cause cancer, global warming and spew aroma pollutants, but the second hand smoke is a weapon used to assault other peoples' health. Now fur-wearing can be rightfully banned as the glorification of sport hunting among otherwise 'civilized' people. The practical implications of amassing policy-making power in one central administration is almost endless as more and more regulatory

Get Yer Merry On!

Based on the latest warmal Algorithm, this month’s holiday lightup is probably going to cost us at least 1,500 polar bears! Speaking of which, anyone know what the lighting bill is at the newly green White House this year? “I’ve been doing it for six years,” said 26-year-old D.J. Damato, who each year trims his family home on 9 Butternut Road with more than 30,000 lights. “Little kids love it, and that’s kind of what keeps me going,” he said. Little kids love it? For Gaia’s sake! Frank Armata, a 30-year resident, began stringing his display when the neighborhood was still relatively dark. “I was the first on my street to set up the lights,” he said of his 25 Preston Road home. “Now, there’s competition … ” Can’t we all just get along? Not far away on 38 Bartlett St., there’s another amazing show. “I love lights,” said Felix Barcelos, 84, who has been decorating his house for three decades. BostonHerald http://bit.ly/4RWf

God Bless Our Troops
merrie
by merrie  Yesterday 2:38 AM    1
I realized the families that I saw this night, owed their lives to these soldiers who were willing to fight. Soon round the world, the children would play, and grownups would celebrate a bright Christmas day. They all enjoyed freedom each month of the year, because of the soldiers, like the one lying here. I couldn't help wonder how many lay alone, on a cold Christmas Eve in a land far from home. The very thought brought a tear to my eye, I dropped to my knees and started to cry. The soldier awakened and I heard a rough voice, "Santa don't cry, this life is my choice; I fight for freedom, I don't ask for more, my life is my God, my Country, My Corps." The soldier rolled over and drifted to sleep, I couldn't control it, I continued to weep. I kept watch for hours, so silent and still and we both shivered from the cold night's chill.

Military Has “Zero Input” and “Zero Influence” on Gitmo Transfers
merrie
by merrie  12-24-2009    4
Not content with the Friday bad-news dump, the administration announced on the Sunday before Christmas that it had transferred a dozen detainees out of Gitmo. ... The twelve detainees have been transferred to: Yemen, an al-Qaeda hotbed whose government makes common cause with jihadists (and has a history of allowing them to escape " or of releasing them outright); Afghanistan, which is so ungovernable and rife with jihadism that we're surging thousands of troops there (troops the jihadists are targeting); and Somaliland, which is not even a country, and which offers an easy entree into Somalia, a failed state and al-Qaeda safe-haven. At least one of the released terrorists, a Somali named Abdullahi Sudi Arale (aka Ismail Mahmoud Muhammad), was released notwithstanding the military's designation of him as a "high-value detainee"

We Can’t Sit Back and Allow the Loss of Our Freedoms By Judge Andrew P. Napolitano
merrie
by merrie  12-24-2009    3
The privacy of your communications and medical decision making with your physician will be gone. More of your hard earned dollars will be at the disposal of federal bureaucrats. It was not supposed to be this way. We elect the government. It works for us. How did it get so removed, so unbridled, so arrogant that it can tell us how to live our personal lives? Evil rarely comes upon us all at once, and liberty is rarely lost in one stroke. It happens gradually, over the years and decades and even centuries. A little stretch here, a cave in there, powers are slowly taken from the states and the people and before you know it, we have one big monster government that recognizes no restraint on its ability to tell us how to live. It claims the power to regulate any activity, tax any behavior, and demand conformity to any standard it chooses. The Founders did not give us a government like the one we have today. The government they gave us was strictly limited in its scope,

When Sleight of Hand Is Used to Pass an Unpopular Bill by Michael Barone
merrie
by merrie  Yesterday 8:31 PM    1
prohibiting slavery in territories north of Arkansas and substituted popular sovereignty -- territory residents could vote slavery up or down. We cannot say with assurance that the Kansas-Nebraska Act was unpopular -- Dr. Gallup didn't start polling until 81 years later. But the results of the next election were pretty convincing. The Republican Party was suddenly created to oppose the Kansas-Nebraska Act, and the 1854-55 elections transformed the Democrats' 159-71 majority to a 108-83 Republican margin. Democrats didn't win a majority of House seats for the next 20 years. Nor did the Kansas-Nebraska Act settle the issue it addressed. Pro-slavery and anti-slavery settlers fought it out in "bleeding Kansas," and Douglas felt obliged to break with the Democratic administration and disown election-stealing by the pro-slavery side. The issue roused a former congressman named Abraham Lincoln to re-enter politics, and he beat Douglas in the popular vote (but not in the legislature)

Northwest Flight 253: An al-Qaeda Linked Attempted Act of Terror
merrie
by merrie  Yesterday 11:11 PM    5
according to a law enforcement official. The suspect told authorities that he had explosive powder taped to his leg and used a syringe of chemicals to mix with the powder that was to cause explosion. This is of concert because it is a method of mixing that is consistent with terror techniques. The suspect traveled from Nigeria to Amsterdam and then Detroit. Fortunately, the man suffered second-degree burns, consistent with fireworks or low-level explosives. The Airbus A330-300, a twin-engine jet, was carrying 278 passengers.
