One day I dreamed that Sony was an American corporation, and that we were innovative and scientifically superior to other countries because we spent hundreds of billions on improving our education and understanding the world around us...

But I was dreaming.

Bah the vast majority of the technical advancements for the past hundred years have been achieved by American companies, labs, research centers.

America's problem is capitilizing on these discoveries effectively. Which is what many foreign companies are very very good at.

But on the clip this is too cool. I imagine a day when something that small can have storage built into it. Instead of buying a newspaper you can buy a download and put it on your sheet. Someday we will evolve from a disposable economy to a reusuable econ.

In the last hundred years we had a premium on science.

I see that evaporating. (Funding for education as well as science is being drained.)

@AcesLucky

You are right other nations are getting into the science game but I see that as a good thing. After all who likes to be the only one at the party.

I think it is exciting since we will probably see much more progress over the next hundred years since their will be so many more players.

THE DAWN OF THE ENTANGLEMENT

 Trend Alert - From Enlightenment to Entanglement. It is clear that the ideals of the Enlightenment appear increasingly unsustainable in the light of current events. There are no longer any answers or any truths, only questions, doubt and intelligent (or not) responses to many changing worlds. Could Entanglement be the way back, towards a more natural state of being?

Women pay the price of insane immigration policies all over the EU
Antara
by Antara  Yesterday 6:44 PM
 "The court heard Afghan asylum seeker Ahadullah Khughiani, 19, of no fixed abode, and four other foreign men “laughed and joked” as they forced the woman out of their car and into the park during the late afternoon of November 26 last year. The woman told the court she was distraught when dog walkers failed to notice her struggling with the men as they led her away and pushed her onto the muddy ground to carry out the attack. Mr Patrick said the woman, who cannot be identified for legal reasons, contacted the police the next day and swabs were taken from her to check for DNA. The prosecutor said the DNA found matched the DNA taken from Khughiani when he arrived in Britain in 2008 seeking asylum. Mr Patrick said Khughiani, who was receiving benefits, was arrested on December 2 and the victim’s Nokia mobile phone was found during a search of his home"

What's the Difference Between Weather and Climate?
thisnamecantbetaken
by thisnamecantbetaken  Today 8:17 AM    1
 It's really, really cold outside and there's a LOT of snow, so global warming is a scam! HA! So much for climate change, eh? :p .Just kidding. It seems some climate change skeptics can't seem to tell the difference between weather and climate. You may have exceptionally cold, or hot ,or dry, or wet weather where you are, at this very minute, but the climate change problem is about a rise in the global temperature of the Earth's atmosphere as a whole, over an extended period of time. It's not about the weather right now, nor is it about seasonal variations , it's about loooong-term changes. Even the slightest change in the global climate , can give huge changes in regional weather , in the flowering season, in the habitability of any given region for birds, animals, plants, viruses, etc, etc. But heck... it sure is cold outside today. .:) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=crFQpOCDfEc
