POPSSeeking Eye Contact I continue to seek out other eyes during intermissions at theaters, hoping I’m not committing some venial social sin by invading anyone’s personal bubble of space. To date, few have sought mine. I look into the eyes of my grandchildren even before I hug them. And recently, Jonah, the 10-year-old, actually looked back at me and announced with some interest that my eyes are blue. Actually, they’re green. But it’s a start.

POPSInvisible Dark-Matter Galaxy has Ten Billion Xs the Mass of the Sun Image: The dark galaxy VIRGOHI 21 has no starlight, but radio waves from neutral hydrogen gas betray its existence. The contours superimposed on this colour optical image from the Isaac Newton Telescope in the Canary Islands indicate how much gas was detected with the Westerbork Synthesis Radio Telescope

POPSA Christmas Day Sermon 1758: Christmas a "Superstitious" Custom
They preached-up "liberty" from this custom! This renowned Presbyterian pastor just prior to the American Revolution demonstrates the "superstition" of a Christmas Day, while preaching about the incarnation or nativity of Christ, entirely different than is done today. He expands: Chrysostom, who lived in the fourth century, has these words, “It is not yet ten years, since this day, that is, Christmas, was plainly known to us ;” and he observes, the custom was brought to Constantinople from Rome. Now since this day was not religiously observed in the church in the first and purest ages, but was introduced as superstitions increased, and Christianity began to degenerate very fast into popery; ought not we to imitate the purity of these primitive times, and retain none of the superstitious observances of more corrupt ages? 18th century American society also did not commonly employ decorated trees (a pagan custom) if they did observe Christmas.

POPSThree years in the making, it's every boy's dream... The undercarriage retracts and the controls work, although the levers are so small they have to be operated with a pair of tweezers. Young C Park, from Honolulu, took three years and 6,000 hours to complete the model. Cut away on the left side to show the internal workings, all the sections were machined from common aluminium roof flashing. The metal is annealed to the proper softness, making it easier to form and carve. Mr Park, 77, used more than 50ft of aluminium, reforming and shaping it on a lathe until he was happy with the result. The metal was usually moulded over a wooden support, but for the large area of the skin behind the cockpit he used the ball of his foot to get the correct shape. POPSObama Approves Giving at Least $30 Billion more to Israel The budget also pledges $500 million in American aid to the Fatah Party’s Palestinian Authority. This aid is contingent on certain requirements, including that the group recognize Israel. This funding is distinct from any funding the CIA may give the Palestinian Authority’s security forces, which would be secret. So the money goes from the taxpayer, to Israel and then back into the pockets of the US military industrial complex. What a sweet set up, eh? *Capitalism* at it's finest. They must be laughing all the way to the bank. *LOL* $30 Billion. Cough up, bend over and smile, USA. .:)
